Recently I added two new devices (New In-Line Relay Link High Watt) as Appliance Links (since they were not in the device database yet).
I was successful at adding the devices to EZServe and get them to turn on/off without any problems. I then went to add them to my “Holiday Scene” scene and try to turn the scene on/off. For some reason all of the other devices turn on/off as they always have been. Matter of fact, a device (house coach lights) now come on/off correctly 100% of the time since I also made it a High Watt SwitchLinc.
Below is my telnet trace for turning off/on the new device, then turning off/on a different device, then turning off/on the scene. I am not really good at reading this so I was hoping that someone could help me out.
Thanks,

AnonymousInactiveDecember 10, 2011 at 9:35 pmPost count: 1001There is no indication 1A.A8.B4 received the Scene On or Off sequence. Since the device can be turned On/Off it would not look like a powerline communication problem. This leaves an issue with the link records in the EZSrve or the In-Line Linc related to Unit (Group) 5. Do you have the SHN Utility installed where the link records in the In-Line Linc can be displayed?
AnonymousInactiveDecember 10, 2011 at 10:49 pmPost count: 131Yes I have access tithe shn utility but what commands do I need to enter to get the link records you are asking for?
Thanks,
SteveAnonymousInactiveDecember 10, 2011 at 10:57 pmPost count: 131Here is the link record for the In-Line Link. I can’t figure out how to get just group 5 from the EZServe, can you please tell me how to do that?
also, here is the link record for a device in group 5 that is working correctly (and is relatively simple, others have 5 or more links in them).
Thanks,
SteveAnonymousInactiveDecember 10, 2011 at 11:18 pmPost count: 1001The EZSrve cannot be used as the SHN Utility interface to look at its own link records.
The link record in the In-Line Linc looks okay except for the Ramp Rate (LD2) which is set for 9 minutes. If this is a Dimmer rather than a Relay it would look like it is not responding to the Scene but actually responding very slowly.
Just to double check 06.4D.67 is the EZSrve address.
Could set the LD2 value to 1F just in case the Relay requires a positive Ramp Rate. I’ve not seen a Relay device need this but these are new devices.
If you have a spare KPL button that is not being used try a Set button link between a KPL button and the InLine Linc. If this works display the link records again and see what the InLine Linc generated for a link record itself.
AnonymousInactiveDecember 11, 2011 at 8:14 pmPost count: 131Here is the Link Records after I added it to the Keypad Link’s extra button
What is interesting is that after adding it to the record that the original LD changed. Should that have happened?
Thanks,
SteveAnonymousInactiveDecember 11, 2011 at 8:54 pmPost count: 1001I have never seen a device change a link record like that.
Two things about the KeypadLinc link record. The LD1 On Level is 00 which would indicate the InLine Linc was Off when linked. The newer devices are taking the current state of the device for the On command condition which means the KPL button may not turn the InLine LInc On because it was Off when linked. The other thing is the InLineLinc is using LD3=1 rather the usual LD3=0 for the output unit number. The LD3 in the EZSrve responder link (rec 1) may have to be set to 1 rather than 0.
AnonymousInactiveDecember 12, 2011 at 3:39 amPost count: 131LD3=1 did it.
I don’t know what that does, can you help me understand it?
Thanks so much for your help.
AnonymousInactiveDecember 12, 2011 at 4:20 amPost count: 1001LD3 is the Output Unit number of the Responder output section. It specifies which Output Unit of the device should react as a Responder to the link record. For the vast majority of Insteon devices the first or only Output Unit number has always been 00 (for years). The KeypadLinc is one exception in that button Output Unit numbers run from 1-8 (rather than 0-7). This is the only single output Insteon device I am aware of that is using an Output Unit number of 01.
AnonymousInactiveDecember 12, 2011 at 4:42 amPost count: 1001I checked the link records in one of my InLine Lincs and they have 00 in the LD3 position for all the responder link records. Clearly something has changed with the InLineLinc you are using. Is this a relatively new purchase?
AnonymousInactiveDecember 12, 2011 at 2:07 pmPost count: 131Yes it is a new purchase and was just released from smarthome in the last few weeks. It is like most InLine modules with the exception of it being High Wattage. I have been waiting for these to replace the more expensive High Watt SwitchLincs and was really happy with it until it wouldn’t work with EZServe. But now I know. These kind of changes definitely make it harder to work with the the products but with fantastic help from you this is still so much better than my old setup (X10).
Thanks Grif… I hope you know how much help you have been to me over the years. Have a great holiday.
SteveAnonymousInactiveDecember 12, 2011 at 3:34 pmPost count: 1001My pleasure Steve! Happy holidays.
