I have just bought the EzSrve and installed the latest 1.43 firmware.

I notice the SimpleHomeNet utility crashes a lot. Like if you try to delete a macro, it pops up a box as though there was an unhandled .NET exception, and I can kill the program or ignore the exception. I’ve gotten this crash also in the Manage Device Links tab, like if I put in a malformed Insteon ID or even try to change it while the previous command is still executing. Seems I’ve run into crashes in quite a few places.

Entering an invalid Insteon address or changing it while the program is using it is exception testing that should not fail, but tolerable for a piece of free software. If I paid for it my answer would be different.

We will take a look at

    1) Crashing while deleting a macro
    2) Invalid ID

Let us know about any more – we will fix them in the next release. We have made a decision to move the software to our formal QA (instead of relying on community feedback) just after the last release was put out, so you will start seeing significant improvements over the next couple of releases.

    Sorry for the headaches.

grif091, I don’t mean to sound ungrateful or complaining, I only mentioned this because I assume these guys want their software to work.

The software may be free but I DID just buy their EZSrve product for $200 to go with it, that is not performing the function I expected it to do when I bought it because of software issues. I trust they are actively working hard to make their product better, which they can’t do without appropriate feedback. I certainly appreciate that they’ve made this software free so I can rip it apart and do whatever I want with, if I feel so inclined.

We do appreciate the feedback, and we want to know if something is not working – even if it is offered for free. Grif091 has provided excellent critical feedback on our products, among many others.

Thanks to everyone for the input – and we are doing everything we can to hit people’s expectations.

    Keep the comments coming.
