I’m getting a fair amount of finickiness from it, much having to do with getting the mothership to understand that I changed my local gateway’s IP address and don’t want the old ones any more. I think I may have got that straightened out, but I’m really not sure. http://myhg.smartenit.com/index.php/ doesn’t have a record of my gateway, but http://harmonygateway.com/ finds it.

I’m trying to add devices using the device discovery tool, it never works and around half the time the gateway hangs (for longer than 250secs) and needs to be rebooted, via unplugging.

Sometimes when I tried to go to discovery from within a new Area I created, the Area got deleted. I’m not sure why this only happened occasionally.

I have yet to get a device to get “discovered” successfully.

Is there a way to access log files that can help debug what’s happening here?

Forgot to mention that this was mainly from a PC, using the harmonygateway.com. I’ve tried the Android app briefly, but had no more luck.

    Hi David,

. http://myhg.smartenit.com/index.php/ doesn’t have a record of my gateway, but http://harmonygateway.com/ finds it.

myhg.smartenit.com process has now been built into the App, so you no longer need to use that website. Just login to your account in the App and click on Discover Gateways to find your gateway.

I’m trying to add devices using the device discovery tool, it never works and around half the time the gateway hangs (for longer than 250secs) and needs to be rebooted, via unplugging.

What devices are you trying to add (Zigbee, Insteon or X10)? When you say gateway hangs, do you mean you can’t query it anymore as if its in a disconnected state? If yes, can you please check the LEDs on the gateway when that happens and let me know their state.

    Add Devices
    For Insteon devices:
Are you pressing the button on the Insteon device to be linked for about 4 secs? If yes, do you see a popup on the App saying “Adding Insteon Device with ID: XX:XX:XX”?

Zigbee devices: did you follow the factory reset procedure for the device to be added?

X10 devices: only the Manual Add method is available.

Just in case if you haven’t read the procedure, it is explained in the Quick Start Guide:
    http://www.simplehomenet.com/Downloads/Harmony%20Gateway%20Quick-Start.pdf

Please do not hesitate to Call/Email me.

I’m using Insteon exclusively for the moment. Again, for whatever reason, I am now able to add devices from the PC. I still haven’t tried the Android app. Most worked fine, although an older lamplinc had to be added manually — the auto discover didn’t seem to take.

My biggest problem now is that every time I try to access my system at harmonygateway.com, it says “Welcome Back, David” but that I have no gateways registered to my account. If I close that window and click “Back” I can access my gateway. How does one register the gateway? I’ve saved and synced, but nothing seems to take. That’s why I was messing with the myhg.smartenit.com.

I’m having some problems where the timers (Wizards) don’t seem to behaving as I expect, but I’m still debugging. I just discovered the messaging feature, and I’ll use that like a log file.

    Thanks.

Also, I totally dig the “sprinkler is active” animation. 🙂

    Hello David,

When you register your gateway with myhg.smartenit.com or discover your gateway while logged into your account on harmonygateway.com, the gateway will be associated to your account.

There are currently no gateways on your account, so what you should do is log in to the app @ harmonygateway.com, then either discover your gateway automatically or enter it manually by clicking the “+” from the connections menu (you get to that menu by clicking the icon with the two plugs and sprocket wheel.

Give us a call if you aren’t able to get this working so we can walk you through it.

I was never able to get the mothership to recognize my gateway from the app, but I tried http://myhg.smartenit.com/ again, and it worked this time. That’s good.

But, I’m wondering if there is a way to tell what day the gateway thinks it currently is. Saturday, my sprinklers went off, which were and are set to go off only on Wednesdays. I see where I can set the time zone, etc. But I don’t see where I can see a day of the week.

Right now there is no way of knowing the Date from the Harmony Gateway you can only see the Time. If the time is synchronized then the Date should not be an issue. I’ll update the App to show the time in the following format: HR:MIN:SECS MM/DD/YY that will be helpful. Will get to it very soon.

In the meanwhile, Do you mind checking the Wizard again and if possible send me an email with the picture of the Wizard and the Condition? Thanks for your help.

Totally resurrecting this old thread, but I realized I never got back to you about my login issues. I’ve never resolved them, only worked around it.

When I first go to http://harmonygateway.com/ it *always* tells me there are no gateways found. This is both from a computer and the android app. I can refresh all I want, but it never finds my gateway. All I do to successfully log in is click “No, don’t try again”, close the next window, and hit “Back”. Then I’m suddenly logged in and all is well. I’ve doing this routine for the past several months, and it’s not terrible, but I’d like to get it to work properly.

I tried uploading my screenshots, but the forum gave me this error:
“Could not upload attachment to ./files/707_4cac2ec88f765631da39918902d1feb7.”

I’ll try emailing them to you.

Please upgrade your Gateway to the latest firmware.

Also to discover your gateway, you have to be on the same network as the gateway.

Still no go. I’m on the same network as the gateway and now have the latest firmware. It’s still exhibiting the same behavior.

I think your browser is loading the WebApp from cache, can you clear the cache and try the app.smartenit.com

Also can you try with the Desktop App, available in the Downloads page, browse to the bottom of the page.

It’s working now after messing with a bunch of stuff. I think the trick was that my External IP was not up to date. I’m now using dyndns to keep things in sync. I didn’t really think that was really needed unless I wanted to do a remote access. I’ve now punched a hole through my firewall, to redirect traffic to the gateway. I’m not sure what all was really needed, but it seems okay so far.

    Thanks!
