I am having a bit of a brain freeze and could do with some help.

I am trying to set up Indigo so that I will know if the garage door has been left open (as we cannot see it from the house).

I have a EXSnsRF setup and working fine with a dakota alert outside motion detector and have just added a Dakota Alert universal transmitter in the garage with I have connected to a normally open contact switch.

However what I was expecting to see in Indigo is an on (or off) when the door is closed and the opposite status when it is open. What I am seeing though is an on when it is closed followed a few seconds later by an off. I see nothing when it opens.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    David

Unfortunately, that’s the way Dakota Alert sensors work. They’re designed to send alerts, not provide a status indicator.

I ran into this when I was trying to monitor a backyard fence gate. I really needed the extra-long transmission range, so I thought a Dakota device and the EZSnsRF would do it.

I ended up burying a cable instead.

I connected my garage door switch to an EZIO2X4 Input, which does report state.
