After spending 30 mins checking the X10 motion detector that turns on my garage lights I began to suspect the EZX10RF. So I reset the unit – went about reprogramming but nothing – non of the usual blue LED sequences.
I gave up but an hour later there was the smell of burning electronics. Went to unplug the EZX10RF and it was too hot to touch – sure enough the plastic where the front label is has deformed due to the heat. I suspect that the linear transformer has gone back or the electronics latched up overloading the output of the transformer.
Has anyone else had similar issues? Unit was purchased 1/26/08

The original firmware < 2.4 PLM would melt down and die. This was a real long time ago; not recently. The PLM is the base unit of the EZX10RF.AnonymousInactiveFebruary 12, 2008 at 4:40 amPost count: 256We are sorry about this failure. It looks from your picture that the unit is fairly recent. We can only conclude that it is mislabeled as only an older version (2.4 as Brian points out) had this issue. If you bought it directly from Simplehomenet, please call for an RMA number for an exchange or refund. Else, please return it for exchange or refund from the distributor you obtained it from.

Thanks
Peter
PS EZSrve is brilliant – got it today – what immediately struck me is the speed of the web interface – I expected it to be slow like my routers.
