As I reread this thread and realize now the limitations of reading from a BlackBerry WAP browser late at night…
Bob, thanks for the script and the instructions. It works fine and I see now there was an EZIO script in the example HS script and in yours. The garage doors are next. At some point I will have 4 for the garage doors and one to sense a low level of LP in the propane tank. How would I handle multiple EZIO’s in the script?
Now to dig out this EZIO2X4 I bought a while back and make some use of it as well.
Jonos, thanks for the quick replies and the help getting through the script self inflicted physiological barrier. Your dialog with Bob pretty much followed my train of thought as I was doing it.
And Grif091. thanks. you info helped me wrap my head around the insteon rules.
Now if someone would make the equivelent of the X10 chime module..

Glad you are up and running. The Dakota chime module has a feature that it sounds whenever it is plugged in. You could plug it into an appliancelinc that HS turns on when EzSnsRF is turned on. That allows you to put the chime anywhere in your house (not necessarily in radio range of the driveway sensor). In my case the driveway sensor and EzSnsRF are way up my driveway, about 700 feet. The chime is out of range, but using the appliancelinc everything works great. Next, try using HS to send you emails and take pictures whenever someone enters your driveway. The EzSnsRf is great with HS, glad you are on board.Anonymous

Its the garage I need a sounder in. The old x10 chime module sounds on power up as well so i have that plugged into a switch link for now. It’s ok but the power has to be removed from the chime module for a good 10 minutes before it will sound again.
I’ll likely rig up a old electromechanical chime doorbell and tranformer to the switchlink for the garage/shop. Hopefully somebody will come out with a multimode sounder module.
I do have a camera and have it emailing a photo. The last time i tried it the lag through HS was too long and the picture was taken too late. That was when using the DA reciever dry contact to trip an x10 interflash module. i’ll try it again presuming lag will be not be as much of an issue now. this is what i bought the ez102x4 way back when.
thanks

Is this normal?

It appears that you may have selected one of the debugging entries on your insteon configuration page that is creating all those entries. Try Logging Level of Normal and see if that helps.

It has been a few years since I looked at actual messages from my EZSnsRF but I’m pretty sure it issued the Broadcast messages for the duration of the Dakota Alert RF signal being received. I run with the Virtual Input linked to a responder which causes the EZSnsRF to issue a single Group message sequence when the RF signal is received rather than a series of Broadcast messages.

It issues a standard Group message sequence (a single Group Broadcast followed by a single Group Cleanup Direct). This is the same sequence that a normal Insteon switch sends to a responder when a paddle is pressed. I do not see a flood of Broadcast messages.

See attached screen capture of the log and the error log file. I started having some other problems starting today as well… HS is not triggering the event that sends me an email when the Dakota alert detects a vehicle. The EZSnsRF is detecting because it ringing the chime thats linked it. Not sure if its a communcations error as I think I’m still battling intermittent communications problems (that seemed to be resolved a few days ago by adding more access points on various branch circuits around the house).
Can you look at my logs and let me know your thoughts? thx

I noticed that you replaced the PLC with a PLM. That means a device address change for any device that had a link to the PLC had/has to be changed to the PLM address. Do not know if that is related to the trap that is now happening.
Now that the EZSnsRF is no longer issuing Broadcast messages because the Group has been linked to a responder the PLM may not be reacting to anything sent from the EZSnsRF when it receives the Dakota Alert RF message. The PLM has to be linked as a responder just as the I/O Linc is a responder. No idea if the HS plugin does that automatically or that is something you must do explicitly. A PLC has less stringent requirements regarding links than the PLM does. The HS plugin may have written a generic link record in the PLC which allowed it to receive messages that the PLM will ignore unless there is a specific link from the controller (EZSnsRF in this case) to the responder (PLM in this case). You can use the SHN Utility through the PLC to display the link database in the EZSnsRF and the PLM to see what link records exist in both devices. The PLM is likely to have a “Large” memory size (as they now support 2000+ link records) which requires the “Large” Link Database Size option when the Utility displays link records in the PLM. The EZSnsRF probably has a “Small” memory size link database. If you do not see any link records displayed in the EZSnsRF using the “Small” memory size option, try using the “Large” option. Will not hurt anything if the wrong memory size option is specified besides not displaying active link records that actually exist.
The lack of the PLM as a responder to the EZSnsRF may explain why you no longer get email messages. The PLM and therefore HS is not aware of anything happening from the EZSnsRF.
