My PLM has apparantly stopped working. It was very hot and smelled “burned electrical”. I have spoken with the service folks and they are suppose to be arranging a replacement.
I’m not sure if this is related, but the PLM stopped responding after I tried to reset factory defaults thru the EZIO config program. Could this be related? I hope its demise didn’t take the EZIO unit with it.

I had the same problem. The unit stopped working after about 4 minutes of be energized. It got very hot and smelled of burnt toast, well really, burnt electrical.

Did you have much trouble getting it replaced?

Me three. Hot and smells like burning transformer or electronic component.
I emailed them and a replacement is on the way.
Now I know why only the PLM was to be sent back. I was going to send the whole EZIO8SA.
I also did a Restore Factory Reset when I noticed the problem, but not 100% sure that did it.

We have had several reports of PLMs shipped with the EZBridge and EZIO8SA combo packages getting hot and smelling of “burn electrical component”. We are currently investigating this issue that appears to be part of a recent build. Meantime we will be glad to replace any defective units. The EZIO8SA unit is not affected, just the PLM.

Please also note that the EZIO8T is also built on the PLM platform from SmartLabs and some units may also have the same issue.

Please send us an e-mail describing the symptom together with your order details so we can process the exchange.

    We appreciate your understanding.

Thank you for the added information.
From my email last Saturday. I expect my label and replacement should be here shortly.
