It seems my unit will not retransmit any A1 messages on the powerline. By chance is this maybe a factory test that a reset will correct?
Also can the normally used hold tap button for 10 seconds while powering up do a reset?AnonymousInactiveAugust 11, 2007 at 12:15 pmPost count: 256Yes, please try the 10s reset on power up sequence. It looks like your unit was not cleared up after the factory reset. Our apologies.
AnonymousInactiveAugust 11, 2007 at 1:37 pmPost count: 192Thanks for confirming that the 10 second power on reset can be used with the EZX10RF. I will try it and see what happens.
Will post back later results.AnonymousInactiveAugust 11, 2007 at 2:18 pmPost count: 192Tried the reset twice. A1 will not work.
Did a few observations. When an X10 RF signal is sent from my HR12A Palm Pad or KR22A Keyfob. The Status LED flashes bright twice [guess second one maybe an X10 transmission]. Also a Bright or Dim Button push on a remote will also flash the LED bright.
Exception is A1. The LED does NOT go bright; just a very quick and hard to see flicker. Then trying to send a Bright or Dim button after an A1 on or off; also results in the hard to see flicker and no signals. Hit another address and then the Bright and Dim buttons again flash the Status LED.
If you need more data let me know; as I can use my 1132CU and software or a 2414S and software to try and look at the powerline signals.
More Data: P9 through P16 also do the samething.AnonymousInactiveAugust 11, 2007 at 9:11 pmPost count: 256Will investigate further. Right now we’ve taken a unit from stock and works fine. Don’t know why yours won’t reset but will send you a new one on Monday.

AnonymousInactiveAugust 11, 2007 at 10:30 pmPost count: 192Thank you for the fast response.
It may not be a reset thing. I dug out an X10 DM10A Rex-10 Motion Sensor. It has setting dials unlike most X10 Motion sensors. I set it to A1 and the test button will send an A1 AOn signal. With an X10 RR501 Tranceiver and a Smarthome 1132CU run by Smarthome Essentials in the monitor screen. Shows the proper A1 AOn with the EZX10RF the received message is like E Bright; or sometimes A Bright not A1 AOn

More tests today. The DM10A may have been a poor choice for a test. It also sends some added extended; data for when it is used with a REX10 Dog Barking Alarm.AnonymousInactiveAugust 13, 2007 at 5:06 amPost count: 256OK, we’ll hold any replacements until we implement the ALL LAMPS ON and ALL LAMPS OFF commands.
AnonymousInactiveAugust 13, 2007 at 8:19 pmPost count: 192Ok, maybe you can also find out why A1 and P9-16 are not working also.
I did try 4 HR12A Palm Pads; 3 UR19A Universal remotes, 1 KR22A keyfob and a DM10A Motion Sensor. For now I will just keep it in the box; or test more whan the updated Utility is released.
AnonymousInactiveAugust 16, 2007 at 8:50 pmPost count: 192OK Downloaded the new version of the Utility. It shows all Addresses as Active. Have not tried all 256 but I can say A1 is not being received with my palm pad. Even with the EZX10RF in the same room as the Palm Pad. Also tried one of the UR19A Remotes samething. I even used the Write Tab to write the A Address back even though they read as all enabled.
Did a factory reset from the utility. All A Addresses still showed as enabled. A1 will not work. The LED on the side of the unit doesn’t flicker like with the other address just does a faint barely seen one if that.
Anymore thoughts?AnonymousInactiveAugust 16, 2007 at 10:36 pmPost count: 192Found something that may help in a finding a cure.
In the Setup X10 to Insteon Translation Area.
Code Index 1
Timer 0.0
X10 House Code A
X10 Unit Code 1
Group 1 ON Cmd1=1 cmd2=1 OFF Cmd1=1 Cmd2=0
If I uncheck Linked and In Use.
Then write back to the EZX10RF. A1 now WORKS! A1 commands now go to the powerline.
Add more data:
I also found with a Set Button held reset. P9-P16 when read by the utility show not enabled. My remotes as I stated also show no P9-P16 activity. I can check the boxes and write back. Then they work again.
Utility shows “connected V10” when accessing the unit.
Also the button reset seems to leave the In Use and Linked in the stste they where before the reset.AnonymousInactiveAugust 18, 2007 at 6:08 amPost count: 256BLH: Behavior of your unit can finally be expalined as follows:
– Codes were programmed at the factory with “In Use” but not “Linked” records. This created a broadcast Insteon message for A1 and any other code that was “In Use”. Your unit should have been “wiped clean” before shipment.
– Factory reset is not working. We acknowledge this as an issue to be corrected in the next firmware version. Our screw-up!!Thanks for your patience. It seems you quickly mastered the utility and put it to use. Please see the command set document for additional explanation on the code records and how you can teach the device multiple tricks…
AnonymousInactiveAugust 18, 2007 at 10:56 amPost count: 192Thanks for the reply.
Glad my findings where of some help. When new firmware is avilable I will ask for an upgrade of mine.
