I have a button in my car programmed to turn on a few Insteon-controlled lights from my driveway using EZX10RF as the interface. After much trouble with programming, this now works fine. However, now I want to be able to automate the same lights turning off, after a time delay.

I’m using HouseLinc to manage links, events and scenes for my Insteon network, and HouseLinc can see the EZX10RF but has no control or visibility of the links that are programmed in it. I suppose I can set up an event that is triggered by these lights coming on, and then a timer to turn them off, but I only want them to turn off automatically if they were turned on from the car. Example, if I turn on the garage lights from inside the garage, I want them to stay on, but if I turn them on from the car, I want them to time out.

I also know I could use another button in the car to turn off the lights, but all of the other buttons are now in use for garage door opening, etc.

Any ideas about how to set this up?

    Hello there,

I’m very sorry for the long delay in reply. The forum doens’t seem to be emailing me when new posts arrive.

The EZX10RF is able to time the Off signal after an On trigger for up to 15 1/2 minutes. It’s probably easiest to set that timer with our Utility Suite. You can use the PLM from your HouseLinc to interface with the Utility Suite and connect to your EZX10RF’s Group 1 or “Code Index” 1 as referred to in the utility suite…assuming your link to your HomeLink is the first link that you created. Then you can set your timer and “Write” it to the EZX10RF.

You can download the Utility Suite from our downloads page.

    I hope that helps.
