No major (or minor) updates since June 09? The Harmony client, IIRC did have a small update not too long ago, but I failed to notice any functional difference. It’s still too limited to be a primary interface. The built-in web interface is also still severely lacking.

The EZServ is still mostly a tinkerer or hobbyist device, that could probably become a great device if there were some worthwhile development behind it. A year plus after the major update, and I still can’t access or use it from my mobile device (phone). My phone supports flash, but the Harmony interface just derps every time I try to log in.

The device has become relatively unreliable for me – timers and events fail to execute properly. I’ve reverted to creating a single action for every event I want to happen at a particular time. Every work day (night since I work 3rd shift), there are 5 actions, one that executes before I leave the house, followed by four more. If I don’t reset the EZServ every evening, the first one will execute, but the subsequent 4 fail. I have to either remember to reset it every evening, or remember to connect from the Harmony utility to turn off lights and adjust my thermostats – but the EZServ is supposed to PREVENT me from having to do that! It’s removing the ‘automation’ from home automation!

What’s the plan?? Are there firmware updates coming that will make the built-in web server halfway usable? Anything upcoming for mobile devices? Android/iPhone?

I’m seriously considering a USB PLM and software to replace this device. It’s just not living up to its potential.

Are you seeing the Actions problem on 2.6.16?

Thank you for your feedback Fray,

The firmware is undergoing a major change right now for the HarmonyGUI. The HTML interface will be discontinued and the flash-based GUI will be the only interface available.

We do not have any immediate plans for iPhone or mobile device capability, but once the HarmonyGUI is officially launched we will be contacting developers.

    Thank you for your patience.

I’m also a little disappointed in the pace of updates, but am also kind of excited to play with ZigBee. There are still significant bugs in the flash interface, and it will never (apparently) be usable from an iPhone. I frequently use my iPhone to control the sprinklers around my house as I’m doing adjustments, etc. If you discontinue the html interface, please have a different iPhone solution available.

Grif, I don’t think I have an actions problem, but I still can’t add my EZIO8T.

Fray, did they upgrade the electric meter on your house in ATX yet?

Grif, I think I have an actions problem. For some reason all my actions have vanished from the EZServe. It looks like I can add them back without any problems, though. Is this what you meant by the actions problem?

No, that was not the symptom. FrayAdjacent indicated Actions did not trigger as expected. I wanted to know if he was running the latest V2 firmware. The last time I saw an Actions file dropped was when some changes were made to other XML files that resulted in the Actions file referring to devices or scenes that did not exist. To protect the overall integrity the Actions file was reset to an empty file if it was found to reference something that was no longer defined.

Thanks, Grif. I’ve been extra careful lately to only make updates through the Harmony portal, I don’t know what might have caused the hiccup. I guess I’ll start adding them all back in… .

Oh, and Simplehomenet folks, have fun in Austin next week!

Do you remember what the last series of changes that were made through the Harmony client? Might be a good idea to offload the Actions file after restoring it in case this happens again.

    Apologies for lack of updates.

I’m still running Ver 02.06 PLM Ver 63. Is there a newer version? If so, I’ll backup my xml files, nuke them all then update. Hopefully that will make the timers/actions more reliable.

I am a bit sad to hear the built-in HTML will be going away… the Harmony interface needs a lot of work before that happens. And, while I use an Android device and likely will purchase a tablet running Android, and will be able to use the Flash interface… it’s disappointing that our iPhone using friends won’t be able to.

Mobile device integration would be a great feature for Home Automation, given the market penetration of smart phones. I’d figure a simple HTML interface with clickable buttons that fits most mobile browsers would be fairly easy to write. Alas, I’m an IT professional, but I’m not a developer. I haven’t written code since Machine Language when I was in school 15 years ago.

One question, will accessing the address of the device at least redirect to the flash interface? If so, it should populate the IP address automatically to prevent users from having to do so.

Image 2.6.16 is available through the Java Discovery tool which has also been updated. Suggest downloading the latest Java Discovery tool, then use it to update the EZSrve image.

I know the request to remember the IP address has been asked for. Don’t know if SHN has included that in things to come. Perhaps Justin will jump in when he gets back in town.

I downloaded the java tool, and fired it up. It connected fine, so I decided I should download the XML files first, just to have a recent copy of each.

    Downloaded the first just fine.
Go to the second, select it, click OK…. then….. nothing. The application freezes.

    This is repeatable 100%.

Will get the files dowloaded, then do an update through the tool.

Ok, got it updated to the ‘beta’ version of the firmware. Looks like all of my actions are still there. I’ll let it go through this week and see if all of the actions fire normally, or if I need to restart.

Well, after three days of not resetting the device, it appears to be reliable in firing the actions I mentioned before. I’ll give it a couple weeks before I jump for joy, but it’s looking better.

I’ve set up a couple more actions triggered by a button on my RemoteLinc, and have in mind to get another RemoteLinc soon, so that I can have one upstairs and one downstairs. I think I’ll set up more actions responding to the RemoteLinc but have a couple questions – will start a topic if I can’t find the answers for those.

Well, it appears that the timers are reliable.

    TOO reliable.

I am on vacation this whole week, but staying at home. I added every day this week as holiday… and the actions are still firing. I double checked one that just fired, and it does NOT have the ‘holiday’ box checked on the Conditions settings.

Man, just seems that it is never right.

Please post the holiday file and an Action that is firing that should not be.
