If I don’t want to use the analog inputs, shorting them to ground will keep them at 1 but how can I set them to 0? If it is using a resistor to reduce the 12 vdc to 5 vdc what value resistor do I need?

AnonymousInactiveAugust 22, 2010 at 10:27 pmPost count: 82When using the EXIO6I with Indigo if the Analog inputs are unused and left floating they fill up the log with status change notices as they fluctuate between 0 & 1 even if the analog inputs are not selected. The indigo forms recommend shorting the inputs to ground but that gives a permanent 1 indication. How can I get a 0 indication?

Two ways to accomplish this.
First, leave Inputs 5 & 6 in the default Digital mode. Do not put the inputs 5 & 6 into analog mode to begin with since you do not plan to use the inputs in analog mode. Apply GND to inputs 5 & 6.
Second, if Indigo does not give you the option to run inputs 5 & 6 in the default digital mode, finish the analog definition by setting the analog trip points to 400 (corrected value) for Off to On and 200 (corrected value) for On to Off. Right now you have established half of the information related to running inputs 5 & 6 in analog mode. Apply GND to inputs 5 & 6.
Is there some reason why the Input 5 & 6 state being On is a problem?

EDIT: I reversed the analog trip point values above. The Off to On should be 400 and the On to Off should be 200.

I followed your instructions;

I made sure all the wiring was tight & installed properly. I reset the EZIO6I & did not select the Analog inputs but I still get this:

AnonymousInactiveAugust 24, 2010 at 7:25 amPost count: 1001Every time I have seen this using Indigo the Enable Analog Inputs option is set in the Configuration Register and the Analog Trip Points have not been set. The Analog Trip Points default to 000 for Off to On and 000 for On to Off. This results in Inputs 5 & 6 cycling between Off and On as the same analog value triggers both the On and Off indications. If the Inputs were in Digital mode the Inputs would not be cycling when connected to GND.
If you have access to a PC with a PLM or PLC such that you can run the free SimpleHomeNet Utility Suite it will display the Configuration Register settings and will also allow you to set the Analog Trip point values.
The topic below yours is related to using Indigo and that user was able to set the Analog Trip Point values using Indigo. I would suggest setting the Analog Trip points for both Input 5 & 6 as I believe they are still in Analog mode.
EDIT: forgot to answer your last question; this is not a problem with the EZIO6I.

I don’t believe this is an Indigo issue — Indigo is writing a configuration register value of hex 0x40 in this case so analog inputs should be disabled. But the EZIO is still in this case (when broadcast changes flag is set) using analog inputs apparently.

Okay, but in this case they are grounded and analog inputs are disabled. Above you said:

If using Inputs 5 & 6 in digital mode and actually trying to have them change state a pull up resister to +5 V is required to turn the respective Input On with GND turning the respective Input Off.

It is currently set up for the last user who was using an EZEye connected to the EZIO6I and Indigo. This will take a few minutes to get the test bed setup again. Would you know what revision level the firmware is at in the EZIO6I. I have a couple of 6Is and will use the one matches or is closest to the users level.

Do you have a Mac + Indigo to try it with? If not, just try setting the configuration register to hex 0x40. He is also setting the analog trip points to 0, 0. I agree those aren’t helpful / good values, but since the configuration register is 0x40 it shouldn’t be doing anything with the trip points.

When I turn on Enable Analog Inputs (configuration register set to 41) I have continuous Broadcast messages because both Analog Trip points are 0. The Broadcast messages continue until I write a 40 back into the configuration register. The following is the raw PLM messages generated during the test.
