    Has anyone ever successfully linked an EZsnsRF to an i/O linc?

    I have not had any luck linking my EZsnsRF to control an I/O link relay outputs. I have the I/O link relay wired to sound an electromechanical door beel chime. It works fine when I send an “on” command to it from Homeseer or a remotelinc. I need it to be triggered by the dakota alert. This is so we can hear when someone comes up the driveway from inside our gargae which is out of earshot of the dakota alert reciever (in the house). I can have Homeseer do it but I would prefer to make it a direct link between the two modules.

    That should work. EZSnsRF is a normal Insteon Controller and the I/O Linc Output relay is a normal Insteon Responder. How did you establish the link between the EZSnsRF as a Controller and the I/O Linc as a Responder? The Homeseer control, is that being done with an Insteon Direct command or with a Group command. The RemoteLinc controlling the I/O Linc Output has to be done with Group commands as that is the only means of control the RemoteLinc has. The EZSnsRF will be using Group commands if the links are correct, with the only difference being the Group number will likely be different from the RemoteLinc. Do you have the means of running the SHN Utility to independently display the link database in the EZSnsRF and the I/O Linc?

    I just followed the linking instruction EZsnsrf which is hold the set button, flashing led, trigger the dakota alert sender (inductive probe in my case) then hold the set button on the responder (I/O linc in this case) and it should link. The led on the EZsnsRF does not stop flashing. Yet I have linked it to relay module fine.

    I have a 2412 PLM so I downloaded the SHN suite but it does not run on the pc I needed to run on which is running vista 64 bit. I need to test it on th 32 bit xp machine to see if I can get it to work on that. when i try to run it is says the program stopped running and windows is trying to correct it.

    I have not wrapped my head around the difference between a direct command and a group command yet. Sounds like i might need to. your thoughts?

    Step 4 in the manual linking process for the EZSnsRF calls for a final 4 second press of the EZSnsRF Set button after pressing the I/O Linc Set button to establish that device as a responder. Not sure the EZSnsRF will complete the link process on its side without the final Set button press. The EZSnsRF stays in linking mode after pressing the I/O Linc Set button so that other responders can be added to that Dakota Alert RF signal. If no other responders are desired then the final Set button press on the EZSnsRF completes the linking process.

    I’ve run the SHN Utility on Vista 32, never tried it on a 64 bit machine. Does not matter as the SHN Utility does not support a PLM as a powerline interface. Only a PLC or EZSrve/EZBridge can function as the powerline interface for the SHN Utility.

    I have plans to get deeper into the SHN products so i will get equipped to run the util.

    I keep a PLC for just that purpose. I also have an EZSrve that I use which runs faster than a PLC because the EZSrve uses a PLM to access the powerline but you cannot look independently at the EZSrve link database when the EZSrve is the powerline interface for the SHN Utility so it is nice to have a PLC.

    Let me know how you progress with the EZSnsRF to I/O Linc activity.

    I have a 2414u PLC that I use with homeseer. I just got a 2412u plm to use with the insteon explorer beta and was hoping it would support the sun suite. I will investigate an EZsrv and get one then. It would be better to do the configs on a screen rather then do it via a single pushbutton and led. I have a ezio2x4 I’ve had for a year that I need to get going as well.

    I got the EZSnsRF to link to the I/O linc tonight. I put them both in the same outlet and it worked fine. Must have been having communications problems when I tried it before with each on sperate circuits. Having my fair share of intermittent Insteon commications reliability issues.

    I have freed up my PLC buy putting a USB PLM on HS. I will give SHN utility a try now.. thanks.
