EZrve may become inoperable after re-flashing it due to a corrupted image or corrupted data files. In this event, the unit will not respond to the discovery tool and its 2 LEDs (amber and green) will be lit solid. When this happens, it may be possible to recover the unit by uploading a good image via the TFTP protocol, using the recovery feature of the boot ROM. The procedure is as follows:

- Prepare a TFTP server in your local network (either dedicated or through a spare network port on a PC). A good, free TFTP server for Windows is available from SolarWinds http://www.solarwinds.com/products/freetools/free_tftp_server.aspx. Do make sure this server is at a fixed IP numbered 192.168.1.104
- Place a good “image.bin” file in the TFTP root directory
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the EZSrve to the network where the TFTP server resides. If connecting directly to a PC, it may be necessary to use a cross-over ethernet cable
- Using a blunt, narrow tip (a thick paper clip will do), depress the recessed reset button on the EZSrve while plugging it in. It is important that the EZSrve detect the reset button being held as it powers up. This initiates a “recovery” feature whereby the EZSrve gets the image file from the TFTP server. Observe the message in the TFTP server window.
- After a couple of minutes, EZSrve will reboot with the new image.
