I just linked an EZRain (V23) to an EZSrve (Rev. 1.52) using the device ID method. No problem encountered here.

After adding the EZRain and creating a new area “Irrigation Control,” I navigated back to Device Management and selected “Irrigation Control” from the Devices drop down then clicked the Config button.

On the EZRain configuration screen, I noticed that the valve run times for valves 2-8 can be written to and read from the EZRain as you would expect. So far so good…

Unfortunately, I noticed that the valve time display (for any program and manual max) for Valve 1 is always displayed on EZSrve as “0” when the get data button is clicked. At this point I was not sure if the EZSrve or EZRain was bad.

Using the SHN utility, I discovered that EZSrve was able to write any valid data to the EZRain. When writing, the EZSrve value displayed in the Valve 1 field remains correct until the Get Data button is clicked. When read-back using the SHN utility, the values were always correct but when read back from EZSrve, the Run Times for Valve 1 (only) are always displayed as “0.”

At this point, I believe the hardware is working and that I have just run across a minor software bug.
If anyone is seeing their run time value for Valve 1 displayed correctly, let me know so I can start scratching my head again.

We are going to look into this – see if we can find out what is happening.

Update – we are not able to reproduce this bug. Would you be willing to capture and send us the traffic captured using the SHN utility?

    Hi Paul:

Hopefully this is the data you are looking for. I collected this data in 6 steps:

    1. Connect the SHN Utility to EZRain and perform an SHN Utility query of the valve times
    2. Navigate to Device Management and click config on EZSrve
    3. Perform an EZSrve query of the valve times
    4. Commanding a change of valve time 1 to “60” through EZSrve
    5. Performing another Query through EZSrve observe valve time 1 is now shown as “0”
    6. Performing another query through the SHN Utility and observe the correct data of “60”

The SHN utility was connected through the EZSrve. I left the SHN Utility open while I entered the commands in EZSrve. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the traffic sent from the EZSrve in this configuration.

Let me know if I can provide any additional information.

    1. Received traffic from EZRain (05.EB.74) upon entering ID into SHN Utility and query for Max Manual Zone Run Times. After pressing “Get,” Zone 1 time is 23 minutes. This is a correct value that I had previously set in the unit.

Note: At this point, Valve 1 is displaying “0” while valves 2-8 display the correct values. WRONG, Valve 1 time should be 23 seconds

    4. Enter 60 in valve 1 and click “Write”

Note: At this point, the valve 1 value is displayed as “60” So far so good

    5. Now click Get Data to read back the values from EZRain

    from ID:05.EB.74 flags:2B cmd1:45 cmd2:0

Note: At this point, the Valve 1 value now is displayed as “0” WRONG, should be 60

    6. Now use the SHN utility to query the EZRain Max Manual run times
