Odd issue, I enter 3 areas and after that they all seem to get renamed ie area kitchen becomes living room etc
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 16, 2008 at 5:41 amPost count: 408Can you confirm which version you are running?
Please also confirm that when you are adding a new area, add new area is selected on the pull down.

Seems like list of areas gets corrupted.

I added “Interior Lights” as an area then added devices.
Went back to Area list and Interior Lights appears twice – over writing “Outside Lights”. Both “Interior Lights” entries contain the same list of device which were originally in the “Outside lights” group.
Hope that helps.
Done this a couple of times – even after Reset via web interface.

I will look at them immediately.

AnonymousInactiveFebruary 16, 2008 at 4:15 pmPost count: 18I don’t know if it helps debug the issue, but I’ve had the same thing happen over several releases from Beta to 1.2 as well. Haven’t tried with 1.3 yet – loading the firmware up now.

AnonymousInactiveFebruary 19, 2008 at 3:01 pmPost count: 408I review the material, and we are investigating how this can happen (so far we are unable to duplicate it).
However, one question. If you go to the second Interior Light area, and rename it and then save it, does the change “stick” or does it always default to Interior Lights?
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 20, 2008 at 4:10 amPost count: 84Interesting result – when I tried this when I first saw the issue (original post) both versions changed name but now everything seems fine (I didn’t re-try until now from my original posting)
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 20, 2008 at 4:15 amPost count: 408Got it. Keep us posted if it comes back. I have created 200 areas just to see if I can break it, and I could not duplicate the result.
However, if you or anyone else sees it again, please let us know.
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 27, 2008 at 7:23 amPost count: 8With Safari (Mac, iPhone, iTouch) attempting to add a second area with “Add new area” selected simply renames the first name.
Also, selecting a device in the area list causes the input panel to appear on iPod Touch/iPhone, and each time you control a device the area selector resets and has to be re-selected.
The iPod Touch is a comparatively cheap and effective web pad controller that you can keep in your pocket, and it works well for my other home automation devices so it would be great if the EZServ worked well with it. I’ll ship you guys one for free if you’ll test your U/I releases against it.
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 27, 2008 at 6:18 pmPost count: 408We will investigate adding of the areas in safari – we will support Safari.
Thanks for the free ipod touch offer – tempting (totally selfish…), but we will purchase the platforms we need to support. If we can duplicate the issue in Safari on a desktop, great, if not, we will determine how to proceed from there.
AnonymousInactiveFebruary 28, 2008 at 2:22 pmPost count: 408We were able to duplicate the problem – has to do with how Safari address the index in the list…
We will get this corrected.
AnonymousInactiveMarch 5, 2008 at 12:45 amPost count: 408please update to 1.41 to fix the safari issue
AnonymousInactiveMarch 9, 2008 at 12:41 amPost count: 57Paul:
Just tried to add a new area using Firefox 2.xx and every time I selected “create a new area”, the page clears and refreshes to the default. Also tried using IE and the engine inside firefox and then IE all by itself (IE6). Same behavior using all 3 methods….
Looks like the Safari fix broke something? (dunno about versions after 1.0 – I’ve only had one area up to now…..and I created that the very first time.)

AnonymousInactiveMarch 9, 2008 at 1:13 amPost count: 408We did test – and I just verified – using Firefox 2.x – on both Linux and Windows (not sure of your OS), and adding the area worked.
First, when you select create a new area, the box on the right should clear, you enter the name of the area, and select Save. When you select Save, do you get a popup confirming the new area?
