I have been attempting to make the inputs on an EZIO2x4 control a scene that is set up by a Universal Devices ISY-26.

I removed the EZIO from ISY, factory reset it, and relinked. After relinking, the Simplehomenet utility shows controller four links in the EZIO, I’m guessing for each of the inputs, groups 9 through C. The last byte of the data field matches the group number, the other bytes of the data field are zero.

I then added the second input to an ISY scene with an Appliancelinc. The Simplehomenet utility shows two new links in the EZIO.
A responder to the ISY PLM, group 16, data 0,0,9
A controller of the Appliancelinc, group A, data 0,0,A

Using the simplehomenet utility to read the appliancelinc links, the appliancelinc has a responder link to the EZIO, group A.

When I change either input 1 or input 2 from zero volts to 12 volts, I’d expect to see the LED flash, indicating traffic. I don’t. The appliancelinc doesn’t change state.

So in my simplistic view, it appears that UD is setting up the links properly. But I’m still fairly new to Insteon.

I need to do a query to show the state of the EZIO inputs in the UD Admin. Console. With those four controller links, shouldn’t the EZIO send some kind of message to the ISY when the input states change?

Has any one else successfully linked an EZIO2x4 input to a scene without linking the devices “the hard way” (pressing SET buttons)?

    royce,

If you have not yet do so, check out the UDI forum at
    http://www.forum.universal-devices.com/
where there is some information about how the ISY currently interfaces with the EZIO family.

The last I heard, UDI and Simplehomenet were in contact with each other to discuss some of the interfacing issues, but I have not seen an update on the progress in a while.

I have both a EZIO2x4 and EZIO8SA, which I use with the ISY. All three devices are excellent in my opinion, and I would love to see them interface more fully in the future.

    royce,

I am sorry I did not connect you with the royceconnerley posts at the UDI forum. I see you are well into discussing the problem there. Maybe Simplehomenet can shed some light on this issue here.

    Royce,
When setting things up electronically, in addition to having the links written in the links database, the input record on the EZIOxx must have a valid group number on the corresponding input. Thus, if input 1 is to control via group A, the A (10) must be written in the Group slot of the record for Input 1. Our utility makes this easy to do via the “Inputs Settings and Monitor” tab under “EZIOxx”

I did set group 10 ($A) in the input records, and then verified that the link records were still correct.

Is it possible that I have a bad unit or old firmware? Firmware sticker on the EZIO2x4 says v1.1, though the Simplehomenet utility reports v1.4. PLM firmware is 2.4.

Old firmware both EZIO2X4 and PLM for sure.
Simplehomenet has a good update policy and you may want to see what they can do for you.

Simplehomenet updated my EZIO2X4 PLM and firmware. Works great now! The 2X4 reliably controls a linked device when the inputs change. The outputs on my 2X4 were reliable before, and still are.
