I got the h/w all installed this evening and was hoping to get things tested, but the sun is down so that will have to wait until tomorrow. As I was trying to configure it, I was having a lot of comm errors, so I went out to check it and the blue LED was off. I unplugged it and replugged it in and everything seems fine again. Does that happen often?
With the Configuration Utility, it it correct that the setup.exe really isn’t a setup program, but the actual Utility? It doesn’t install the app in Program Files? So I just launch it from whatever folder I install it to?
The EZRain Firmware button returns 20. Is that correct?
The Sensor Data Refresh Button returns 0. It this correct?
What does the Sensor Data do?Thanks,

AnonymousInactiveMay 17, 2007 at 1:30 pmPost count: 408Sorry for the delay. If you have immediate questions, feel free to contact the toll free support number. In regards to the comm errors with the LED, that does not happen often at all. If you experience similar problems again, please contact us directly. There may be an issue with the unit.
For the configuration utility, setup.exe is a setup program. Unzip the file to a folder, and run setup.exe. This will load the application. The app is installed into program files and is placed into the control panel.
The latest firmware is EZRain 2.0, so a return of 20 is correct. The sensor data and button at this time is not functional. It is an anticipated new feature. Sorry for the confusion there.
If you have any other questions, feel free to either call or you can email me directly.

regarding the setup utility, it does not install a program anywhere. And why would you place it in Control Panel? What’s the rationale behind that?In order to run the config utility, I always have to run setup.exe.

AnonymousInactiveMay 22, 2007 at 2:34 amPost count: 408Sorry, I was a little confusing there. What I meant was that the utility is also added to the add/remove programs section, so you can uninstall the utility. As far as where it is installed, look under
start -> all programs -> simplehomenet -> ezrain utility
If it is not there, please feel free to email me and I will send you detailed information and we can determine if there is something unique about your setup.
AnonymousInactiveJune 10, 2007 at 9:21 pmPost count: 9How long does a typical Get and Store take? How long for a Get All and Store All?
Sometimes I see the setup utility indicate Busy (with no bars moving) and nothing going on in the SDM window. Then, after a minute or two, I see activity.
Sometimes I will see the Busy indicator just “hang” in the middle of an operation, and I don’t how long to wait.
There are times when a Get finishes after a few minutes, but what comes back is not correct, with numers like 168, 255, 40, etc. for some of the times in the programs.AnonymousInactiveJune 10, 2007 at 11:47 pmPost count: 408A get / store for all values can take a little time. It can take upwards of a couple of minutes, depending on the noise on the line.
When you say you see no activity in the SDM window for a matter of a minute or two, is it really or minute or two or more like 10 seconds? We have timeouts in place that should cause an error if the time period exceeds approx 15 seconds (can vary a little).
Be aware that we are creating a new version of the utility that will let you download one program at a time, making it much more manageable.
