What version of SDM3 are you using for the EZIOxx Utility?
-308 from my HouseLinc desktop seems to not be 100% reliable. -278 seems somewhat better and -191 seems best.
PLC is a 2414U Firmware 2.13 [2.D hex].Another error when started. I get a communications error and a make sure no other Automation Program is running warning. None is.
Also no PLC is detected and I have to click the black box next to the PLC ID box to then reconnect. Tried an older 2414U and 2841U both with firmware 2.12. Same resultsMore tests show that a 2414S Serial PLC with -308 and Firmware 2.13 work just fine. Serial also seems to run better with Ken Millers InHomeFree so this maybe a PLC with USB problem.
I may ask in the Insteon SDK if anyone else has USB over Serial Interconnect issues.

Also, note that even when no other sofftware package seems to be running, the SDM sometimes “sticks” and has to be turned off manually. Look for its icon in the system tray area to verify it is not running.

Your utility seems to not wait long enough for my PLC to initilize and then gives the error message. Reconnect box then finds the PLC.
Also if coaxed will not do things like checking the EZIO8SA for links. The led on the PLC doesn’t even blink; like it is trying to contact the PLM connected to the EZIO8SA.
Serial PLC with the utility looks 100% or darn close.
As an SDK member I have learned to check for the icon; but thanks for pointing it out as it could be a problem
AnonymousInactiveJanuary 31, 2007 at 11:49 amPost count: 192I am going to be doing more tests. To see if maybe it is my hardware software combination that is slowing my USB interface to my 2414U or 2814U. I do have a USB HP Printer and my APC BX1000 using USB ports to monitor their conditions. PLC is on its own internal hub; by Device Managers Hardware list; but maybe one of them is using lots of time doing their thing.

On an EMachines I also own. Both KenMillers InHomeFree and your EZIO8xx Utility work fine and as fast as my serial 2414S on my main computer.AnonymousInactiveFebruary 4, 2007 at 4:15 amPost count: 256Apparently the 2114S works better.
We plan to port Ken’s InHomeFre to Visual Studio and add expanded support on the timers and control tabs so that non-lighting devices can be used. We’ll keep the community posted once we have a schedule worked out.AnonymousInactiveFebruary 4, 2007 at 12:13 pmPost count: 192In my tests on my main computer the Serial is much better. On another test computer both the Serial and USB models seemed to be as responsive.
