I have a timer that will not open. I opened the data and found the following….. (action rec #7 is the problem)… how can I remove it without erasing the remainder of my timers? Why does it hang when I try to open?

You can download the Actions.xml file using the List Files function. Very carefully using WordPad or something similar, delete starting at the beginning of the tag for Rec=”7″ through the tag.

Then use the UPLOAD FILE function to upload the modified Actions.xml file. When the upload is complete there will be a message displayed under the Server Configuration screen title saying the upload was completed. When that message is received click on RESTART (not RESET) to restart EZSrve with the Action Rec=”7″ entry deleted. I will add that Action to my file and see what happens. Did you create this Action with the HTML screens or the Flex client?

I used the HTML action. I have tried to remove the section mentioned but cannot upload. I receive the request to upload to IE. My computer will access EZServe but it takes hours to get anything done through IE. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help,

    Murray

Thanks for the information on using HTLM. I defined an Action with HTML using the information I saw from your post for rec=7 and I do get a problem although it does display here, some of the information is wrong. I’ve defined hundreds of Actions but none with the Odd option until now. Not sure if that is related to the symptom. An upload of that small an xml file should take only a few seconds, 10-15 would be normal for that size file. If running IE8 try running in Compatibility View mode. I run IE 8 all the time, in Compatibility View mode. Another possibility is to keep the path to the directory containing the upload file simple and short. I use c:tempyyy.xml for all my uploads and downloads for that matter. Is it only the upload that is running slow or other things as well. We have a couple of users experiencing slow Restarts which SHN has determined to be a file system problem in the EZSrve and a new image is being tested which should be available soon, maybe next week. I plan to test your Action against that image as soon as I get it.

I have adjusted the actions.xml file in wordpad. Saved a copy to c:temp. When I try to upload this file I receive note that I need to save a valid XML file otherwise the system will become unstable. (I am now using Foxfire in IE compatibility mode).

Thanks … I finally figured out how to edit the actions.xml file and uploaded it successfully. The action has been eliminated while the other actions are still registered.

If you are getting the following message…..

Uploading invalid/corrupted (*.xml) file will render the system unusable. Are you sure …….

that is the normal warning message that if you upload garbage the system may no longer work. It is displayed every time you do an upload.

Nothing wrong with copy/paste, just a little more exposure to making a mistake than downloading the file as a complete entity.

Using FireFox for uploads has been a problem in the past getting the upload to work at all. Don’t know about running it in IE compatibility mode. When you click on UPLOAD FILE a message just below the RESET button will say upload is in progress. If the upload completes successfully a message is displayed just under the Server Configuration title saying the upload was successful. At that point you have to RESTART (not RESET) for the newly uploaded file to become active.

EDIT: your latest post came in while I was generating this post. Glad you were able to eliminate the unwanted Action. I will test that action definition on the next image level when it comes out.

The problem is caused by a blank at the end of the Action Name=”Vacation – office and bar off “. If you reenter the Action without the blank after that last word it will display correctly.
