I have to replace a dead KPL which had many links. What is the easiest way to rebuild the network? If I download XMLs, replace old address with new in them, make a note of which devices I need to ‘touch’ and then upload XML and reapply links to ‘touched’ devices, will that work?

The actual Insteon address appears in the Devices.xml file only. The Areas.xml and Actions.xml reference devices by their name. Change the ID=xx.yy.zz value (use upper case A-F) in the KeypadLinc device definition itself and all references to the old ID value in the link definitions of other device definitions. Keep track of every device definition that was altered. After uploading the new Devices.xml and doing a Restart, then SYNCH DEVICE every device entry that changed. I’ve not tried this but the theory is valid. Be very careful when modifying the xml file. A stray finger check could render the file unusable. Offload all the xml files for backup even though only the Devices.xml file is being altered.
