I would like to control my somfy powered awning using insteon and mobilinc. Smarthome offer a kit to do this comprised of a dry contact Somfy interface and a I/O linc. I guess this may do the trick for some people when controlling blinds. But this kit only provides for open and close control. Since my awning extends 10 feet or so, I would like to be able to stop midway. it looks as if using your EZIO40 in combination with the Somfy dry contact interface might do the trick. I would even have one leftover relay. Can anyone confirm to me that this will work and, if so, that it will do it via Mobilinc and Insteon? It seems obvious that it should. I’m just worried that I might be forgetting something.JustinMemberFebruary 14, 2014 at 4:31 pmPost count: 146
Hi there wingman!
Thank you for your post and interest in our products.
So, just to be sure I understand the operation of the Somfy controller you have correctly. You need one contact closure for open, one for close and one to stop?
If that is the case, then the EZIO4O would do the trick. I’m not aware if Mobilinc will interface with the EZIO4O, however. If they have any contacts you could confirm with, that would be great.
Otherwise, worst case scenario…you could purchase the EZIO4O, try it out and return it within 14 days if it doesn’t suit your needs.
On a side note, we do offer a free mobile and desktop application for our gateways to control the majority of our INSTEON and ZigBee devices. Our gateway solutions range from $70+ to $200. So, if Mobilelinc won’t control it for some reason…you could still get the job done with our gateway and application.
I hope that helps!

Thank you Justin! Yes, i’m looking for open + close + stop control of my awning. The IOlinc in the kit from Smarthome has only 2 outputs and, therefore, does not provide support for stop.
I will get in touch with Mobilinc and see if they support your unit. Otherwise, I’ll look into that mobile application you mentioned.
Thanks again!JustinMemberFebruary 17, 2014 at 4:33 pmPost count: 146
The mobile app that works with our gateways is called iSmartenit.
You can find the links to the app for Android or iOS devices on our homepage…or load the web app at http://app.smartenit.com
More info on the app is available here as well – http://wiki.smartenit.com/index.php?title=ISmartenitwingmanMemberFebruary 25, 2014 at 1:47 amPost count: 3
One last thing… Firstly, it looks like Mobilinc does support the EZIO40 (great news). So, for my application, I will need for 3 of the relays to provide normally open operation with a 1second delay. Is this something I can easily setup myself or can I order the unit “pre-programmed”?
