I plan to use an EZIO2x4 as a garage door management system for a two door garage. After many hours of experimentation I finally succeeded in getting the open-door indicators working for both doors (I was thrown off for a while by the reference to needing external power for a second input and the lack of any hook-up diagrams in the Quick Start Guide). However, I’m stumped on how to make the two outputs work to open and close the doors–I don’t want them to automatically close after being open for a set period–just to be able to close them via remote Insteon controller in my bedroom when the indicator light informs me a door is open. My problem is how exactly to configure the outputs in the Simplehomenet utility software and then to link each output to a discrete Insteon controller. On this latter point, the last sentence of the Quick Start Guide just says “”…and c) establish a link to have output 1 respond to group 1.” Unfortunately, nowhere does it explain how to establish such a link and there is no documentation at all for the software utility. Can someone help? Thanks!AnonymousJanuary 14, 2008 at 1:10 amPost count: 256
Please refer to the section on linking the EZIO2X4 as a responder. You can link to a controller such as the ControlLinc, KeypadLinc or SwitchLinc. Place the controller in linking mode, then press the set-button on the EZIO2X4 for 4 seconds. The LED on the controller will stop flashing and the LED on the EZIO2X4 will turn off. Now you tell the EZIO2X4 which output you are linking by tapping on the set-button once for output 1 or twice for output 2. Then finish the process by pressing the set-button on the EZIO2X4 for 4 seconds. The LED will turn on and remain on again.AnonymousJanuary 19, 2008 at 8:13 pmPost count: 2
Thanks. I have finally successfully configured the EZIO2x4 to actuate an open door signal for two garage doors and to receive commands to actuate the door openers! Now I would like to configure an EZX10RF to convert X10 commands to Insteon to open and close both doors. In particular, I’d like to configure the automatic timed OFF signal feature. Can anyone tell me what commands to use in the software utility and exactly how to do this? I would greatly appreciate it!
