I would LOVE to be able to control the ceiling fans in my house via Insteon. The company that makes most of the ceiling fan controllers on the market (regardless of the label on them) is Rhine Electronic Co., Ltd.. They use patent 6075329 to provide a MOSFET based variable speed fan control WITHOUT the hum you get from TRIAC based controllers. The devices they manufacture have a simple RF receiver (and transmitter in some models I think) that controls the settings. It would be EASY (relatively) to extend their current design to incorporate an INSTEON interface. You could replace the RF interface or add to it. This would be a BIG hit for a lot of people. I think the only viable commercial solution I have found is the Fan control from Lightolier and it is not INSTEON. Please find a way to sell a product like this.
