Smartenit Provides the ONE App to Control them All

Smartenit Inc., a holistic IoT Solutions Provider announces public availability of its Smartenit App for controlling all your smart things for home and business. Whether you attach Wi-Fi, ZigBee, BT, Insteon, X10, or other network smart devices to your home or enterprise the app gives you a convenient way to control them all via iPhone, or Android. The app controls devices manufactured by Smartenit, as well as devices from other manufacturers making it truly the one app to control them all.

“Smartenit heard concerns from the market about the ‘road to too many apps’ on your phone to control your home. This would obviously be a non-starter for smart control. Having a production app on the market already for several years, it was a natural progression to create a new product that has a more modern UX, interfaces with a multitude of automation networks, and provides a gateway for all your smart things via the ultimate UI – voice control, starting with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.” Said Mark Wright, VP of Product at Smartenit, talking about the app that will be demonstrated at CES 2018, booth 18215.

A compelling graphic interface and ease of use belie a rich set of features supported that includes:

• OAuth 2 integration for more convenient sign-up/sign-in
• Rules, schedules, and notification editor to fine tune activities and scenes
• Support for Smartenit load controllers, sensors, and actuators
• Support for other products – e.g. Honeywell Lyric, NEST, Philips Hue, etc.
• Energy management charting
• Support for multiple locations
• Events view that provides a summary of activity

The app, which goes by the name Smartenit, is downloadable now from Google and Apple stores.

Smartenit Joins Open Charge Alliance

Smartenit, Inc. Joins Electric Vehicle Charging Standards Body, Open Charge Alliance

San Juan Capistrano, CA– Smartenit Inc., a pioneering electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) manufacturer, has joined the Open Charge Alliance (OCA), the premier standards body in regards to electric vehicle charging (EVC) infrastructure communication.  The company looks to lend its extensive industry experience in EVC and internet of things (IOT) networking to contribute to the Open Charge Point Protocol and its widespread adoption.

The OCA looks to deliver a consistent and flexible means of back end EVC network communication, something aligning with Smartenit’s philosophy of an open and cooperative internet of things.  The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is the application protocol  created by  the OCA’s consortium of manufacturers and service providers to promote interoperability among EVSE suppliers and management systems.  “A solid standard like OCPP will encourage tremendous network expansion.” says Alfredo Choperena, CEO of Smartenit “Service hosts can be confident that they will not be left with incompatible or obsolete hardware and will join in even larger numbers.  This increase in network coverage will greatly improve the ease and simplicity of the consumer looking to charge their vehicle- the ultimate goal and the real driver of industry growth”.

Smartenit, as a bleeding-edge EVSE manufacturer and IOT integrator, will be able to contribute a unique and valuable perspective to OCA.  Smartenit was the first company to deliver a Zigbee certified EVSE controller and has been supplying hardware and networking solutions for one of largest EVC service providers in the United States.  Initially created as a home and building automation solutions provider, Smartenit brings a significant history of wireless communications expertise and experience, including work with other wireless communications standards bodies.  “We have been consistent in our approach that the Internet of Things should be open interoperable” states Choperena “Electric vehicle networks are a great application of our framework as they typically involve different wireless protocols from a number of hardware manufacturers.  We are greatly looking forward to helping shape OCPP and working with other companies looking to unify the electric vehicle charging experience.”

Give us some background on Smartenit?

Smartenit Inc. began when CEO, Al Choperena, was looking to manage irrigation of a remote property in Central California. When looking for an irrigation controller to do the job he realized that existing controllers either A) couldn’t do what he wanted or B) were prohibitively expensive. So he made what was to be our EZFlora (still sold to this day!).

From there we started building our device ecosystem around the home and beyond, bringing us to today, when we are considered a complete connected-home solution provider. So we offer the hardware, software, and network access that combine to form a harmonious ecosystem that is accessible from anywhere. In terms of hardware, we manufacture devices to control home elements like lighting, irrigation, climate control, monitoring, water management, energy management, and more. In terms of connectivity, we offer a cloud server that makes gateway discovery and remote connection a breeze. A major differentiation is that our cloud service is not essential to operate the system as all processing including a powerful automation engine is built into the gateway…

Smartenit Delivers Harmony G1, First Android Mini PC That Is Also a Connected Home Hub

San Juan Capistrano, CA– Smartenit Inc. has embedded their popular ZigBee, INSTEON, WiFi, and X10 home automation platform, into a powerful Android mini PC.   The revolutionary concept allows users to run popular streaming media services like Netflix, Hulu, and Pandora on a Smart TV alongside their Smartenit home automation ecosystem.

The micro-sized media set top box packs a multi-core ARM processor, ample memory, Ethernet and WiFi, and comes configurable with various Smartenit automation controllers for a rich variety of network control options.  G1 is wireless and, like other Smartenit gateways, is discoverable through the iSmartenit app, making its setup truly plug-and-play.  G1 gives users access to the full Smartenit device ecosystem, including controllers from multiple manufacturers using multiple wireless technologies to address solution areas like water, energy, lighting, monitoring, comfort, and more.

Interfacing with the system is achieved through the FREE iSmartenit cloud connection service and application, which comes in browser, desktop and mobile versions (both Android and iOS).  Discovering devices is automatic and iSmartenit taps into the powerful logic built into G1 that allows users to set up sophisticated programs and relationships among their devices.

The mini PC, through its HDMI port, allows the transformation of any PC monitor, projector, or TV into a Smart TV.  The tight integration with Android allows users to access any number of popular apps while their home automation system runs in the background.  Dual USB ports and an SD card slot offer storage expansion and network connectivity can be done either through wired Ethernet or WiFi.

“The Harmony G1 is the revolutionary result of our consistent gateway strategy” says Al Choperena, Smartenit’s CEO.  “We continue to refine the concept of the firmware as the gateway, to make the home automation hub an obsolescence-proof concept rather than tie it to fast-evolving hardware.  This is the latest example of adding our gateway firmware to a powerful processor.  We are excited about the Android platform and think users will be very pleased with the functionality and value of a smart TV box that also admirably handles their home automation needs.  It represents our commitment to enabling anyone to smarten anything wherever they live, work, and play.”
